How tall of a mid-muffler can I fit in the driveshaft tunnel?

Looking at fitting either a 4"h x 9"w or a 5"h x 8"w mufffler in the driveshaft tunnel. Does anyone know if the 5x8 will be too tall and limit clearance? I don't mind taking off the heatshield. Thanks!

Matt

Sure, i'm drawing up ideas for a custom exhaust. I need to know if I can use a 5x8 magnaflow or if I need to stick to their 4x9 series.

Reread his first post. He said 4"H by 9"W.

Reading comprehension > you.

Assume a muffler length of 18".

SwivelHips: I'm just trying to find someone who has already fit one in the area. Especially if they have removed the heatshield to gain more ground clearance. But thanks for your helpful reply.

i custom made mine before also. 3in inlet and outlet, 4in diameter. if you go 5in, it's going to hit and rattle everything, and you're asking to scrape eveything, including the speed bumps. (oh yeah, and uneven roads!! LOL) you're going to drive grinding your teeth and lifiting up your butt. lol

but yeah, custom exhaust is the way to go. customize your own sound. but don't use any vibrant resonator, you're asking to sound like a civic. because it loses it's PURRRR~
