ECU flashing through ODB2 Port?

I know there are some ODB2 tools that hook up to our cars and allow for some tuning.
500-1,000 bucks for one of these are kinda crazy.

Is there software I could just load on a PC and use a ODB to USB?
My buddy has a VW R32 and has been doing this, wonder if I could do it too and borrow some maps off of some tune shops.

Also, if I flashed, would I have to re-flash every time I start?

I don't know the answer but I'm curious about your TB and porting it. This is the second time in 3 days I have heard of this and wondered if you could share any details. Cost, where it was done, what did they do, any noticeable benefit, etc.

all you can do is advance the timing. but this will be every time you start the car. in other words POINTLESS because it needs a $500-~ software.

TB port & polish is kinda like extra sugar in Icing.
You may not notice it much, but its definitely sweeter.

I did mine while I did my TB spacer.
The OBX Spacer has rubber rings for the gaskets so I didnt have anything effecting the port & polish.
I took my time 1-2 hrs at my desk with a high RPM rotary(non dremel)

I'd say my "eye estimate" I took off close to 10mm
If that didnt help... At least its nice and clean.

I'm going to port match the intake manifold to the TB in a week or so.

It's an easy mod. Common sense is all you need. (Besides tools)
It's a free mod.
It's pretty common.
