The rear bumper doesn't meet us crash standards... IDK if they would know that, or if you could even register it

OP is asking how he can legalize the 250GT in the US. Also, your jalopnik link has been posted NUMEROUS times here on Driver. I thought feds taking away GTRs and other illegally imported are (Motorex, anyone?) all ancient news by now?

To legalize the 250GT, it takes more than just time. There is a whole list of things that needs to be converted to US compliance standards before it can even reach the US shore. Once it has been imported, the EPA, DOT, NHTSA, and other agency would have to test and thoroughly check the vehicle before they are released and legally registered.

Different engine is probably a bigger deal than it should be... you'd probably have better luck getting in a 350gt.

$5k sounds cheap.

Look into grey market import rules. Unsure of the costs.

To be honest,I think the g35 is a better Deal then the jdm cars. Ypu get the 3.5l while most jdm are 2.5 and 3.0. Plus you can only get awd with the 2.5. I would think driving around with the steering wheel on the wrong side would get old after a while. Say bye bye to drive thrus atms food, tolls, paying for parking in lots, etc.
