Failed inspection in the G35 - bad front tires - should dealer pay?

Just came back from the inspection station. Left front is pretty bad - right front not much better. Rears are nearly new. I knew they were less than "OK" but was hoping to keep them until Sept/Oct and spring for a new set then.

I emailed the report to the dealer and asked for compensation to make my car roadworthy again. I hope they will own up as they sold a car that doesn't pass inspection, but I could easily see them washing their hands off it.

Am I SOL?

It depends on the dealer, but honestly I'd just use it as an excuse to get new rims and tires. I couldn't stand the stock X rims.

When did you buy the car? I got mine, and when I went for sticker 4 days later, rears were gone and dealer paid for it. Got Nexen N3000, but they were new atleast and free

I bought it in April and waited nearly a month to get plates and inspection notice. Tried a couple of times before today and finally were able to get in and have it done. Had the car for approx a month and a half now. I've driven in around 3000 miles. No moronic driving to wear the tires quicker than normal in any way - they were like this when I took delivery but expected them to at least pass.

i'd say after 6 week you are hooped. that seems to be beyond a reasonable registration period. obviously vehicle registration works differently where you're from than what i am used to, but why did you wait so long? especially when you KNEW the tires were shot. the best way to make a dealer pay up is to identify defects quickly.

I waited 29 days to get the paperwork from the dealer so didn't go before I had that and the "expiry date" on the inspection notice was 5/28 so I've tried a couple of times since last week but didn't get a chance to get it done so that's the reason.

Now the "48 hour" deadline to fix it is ridiculous. Of course their paperwork says I should have it re-inspected on 6/6 which is Sunday. Bravo.

Called MVC and someone could actually help. I was shocked. Normally you get "I don't know" or "call this number" when you ask anyone anything there...

Anyway
I need some input on some good tires. I drive a lot on the highway so a very noisy tire would be annoying. Wet traction is important to me - I couldn't care less about aggressive thread patterns and taking corners at 90 mph. Just a nice normal tire that would be good for this car.

Thanks

Good highway tire I would say get a Pilor exalto A/S All season, great tread wear and wet dry and snow. It's a mich tire, so they'll be a bit pricey, but a good idea. And being a pilot, they will be good in the handling area too incase you change your mind.....you will change your mind.
