Headlights - Xenon Version

Question
One of my headlights needs to be replaced. Can this headlight be removed and replaced with a stock headlight that is not the Xenon version (w/o ballast that is) and just hook up the ballast to make it HID like the other one?

Is this as easy as just hooking the ballast up and it will work or do other things need to be considered?

Furthermore, the stock housings are expensive, can it be done to something like these?

first of all, HID lights requires 3 things. A HID bulb, a ballast, and a projector/reflector built for the bulb.

The hid bulb is different from halogen bulbs. It uses a different plug as well.

The ballast is what gives the bulb its power. The hid bulb uses a different lighting system, so it requires lots of power to fire up but little to keep it lit. The ballast provides that power.

3rd, you need a projector or a proper reflector to aim the light correctly, or you're gonna end up with those ricers with headlights that blind everyone.

You will need all 3 components for the hid to work properly.

03-04 headlights are different from 05-06 headlights. 03-04 will not fit 05-06 and vice versa.

why do you need to replace your headlights?

I need to replace the driver side headlight. The car was barely hit on the front and it snapped off the top support. The headlight still works and the glass didn't break. But the headlight rattles a little because that support is broke off.

The reason i mentioned those aftermarket ones is because they are cheaper than just one oem non-HID headlight and if i could easily fix them with the ballasts and bulbs currently being used by my HID headlights i would get those. Seems that two of the three things needed i already have, but the "projector or a proper reflector" I am not sure. I would assume these are pretty much identical to the stock headlights except that [without the ballast and HID bulbs] and the only other difference is they are painted black. I would assume you can install the HID bulbs currently being used along with the ballast and then install the headlights in place of the originals and everything works.. But it sounds like this is NOT the case.?

I have a set of OEM 05 Sedan headlights that I just took off my car, PM me if you are interested.

I have actually done this, bought one of the ebay and replaced it with mine. My suggestion is too use as much of the stock headlight as possible, since the halogen produces less heat then HID so the glass in the halogen might not be tested to that extreme heat.

Otherwise, go for it...
