Transmission Fluid Flush

Tomorrow, I'm taking my '03 G35 sedan into a Nissan dealership for a complete automatic transmission flush and fill. The car has about 54,000 miles. The charge is $200.00. I know the car can go longer but I'm a bit **** on mantenaince. Good idea or not worth it? Inputs?

I think on automatics the charge consists mainly of just what it costs for the new fluid since it takes something close to 16 quarts to empty and refill the torque converter, so it's probably worth it. You could do it yourself cheaper, but not by much.

Just changed my fluid at the dealer a couple of weeks ago. Charged me $100, fluid was still clean, so they said I didn't need the flush, I have 61k miles. Ask them to check fluid first, if its clean, just get a regular fluid change and save yourself $100.

Changed my fluid out at 39k, 14 quarts. OP your price is good coming from the dealer. You can buy the Matic-S fluid or like 7-8 bucks per quart online.

My Dealer charges $300 for the Flush!!!

Anyone know of a shop other than the dealer near Long Beach, CA where I can get my fluid exchange done for a reasonable price? I have 90,000miles on '05 G35.

If it has never been changed before I would drain and fill, drive to your next oil change, drain and fill, drive to the next oil change and drain and fill again. You don't want to exchange too much fluid at first because it can cause trans problems. Check the following link for easy instructions. I did what I suggested for you, only draining and filling the trans pan, not taking off the cooler line. You will get about a 70% fluid change over 15k miles by using this method. Do it a fourth time for approximately 90% new fluid over approximately 20k miles.

Thank you for the good advice... I forgot to mention that I have previously changed my trans fluid at 30,000 & 60,000 but have never done the fluid exchange. Just want to change out all of my fluid for a reasonable price like $200 or less. Or if anyone has directions on how to do a fluid exchange myself I would be very greatful!!!

Yeah, my car has around 55K miles. Last year I the power steering fluid change and brake fluid. This year I just got the transmission flush. So I think all the fluids in my engine are up to date now.

I have a 2004 Infiniti G35 and I am going to flush the transmission fluid however I am replacing the radiator. How many quarts of transmission fluid will I need if i won't have to flush the fluid out of the radiator? Thanks

I might be way off or reading this wrong, but I don't think changing your radiator has any effect on transmission fluid?

The video shows the guy doing a drain and fill twice. Once out the pan and once out the hose. Is it possible to do it all out the hose? Or maybe do the pan and then hose without refilling between?

The bottom part of the radiator is a transmission cooler. There are about 2 quarts in there.
