Help on audio, please!

So I want to upgrade from the stock stuff to some aftermarket goodies. This is my first car ever and I don’t have any knowledge on what's good and affordable. For the sub's my friends mention these about 2 x JL 10w6 or 1 x JL 12w7 or maybe 1 x Alpine type X SWX-1243D. I'm not sure how much stronger 1 x JL 10w6 will be compared to the stock Bose but I’ll get two. Now for the Amp I don’t even know where to being. Also I wanted to change out the stereo, was thinking about the JDM DD but I don’t know anything about which stereo system is good, I want a small DVD player. Thank You.

#1 You're in the wrong forum.
#2 The stock bose is as weak as they come, 1x JL 10w6 fills the car very well with 400-500w RMS behind it. A 12w7 would be great too, but needs a high-quality box to get the sound quality it's capable of.
#3 What's your budget, to include the $300+ for the JDM kit?

Including the $300 for the JDM kit, i'm looking to spend around $400-$500 for the sub and maybe around $300-$400 for the Amp. I'm still trying to figure how how many channels i need and ohms.

It also depends on how loud you want your bass also... Look into the jl 1000/1 amp if your gonna go with the 2 w6 or 1 w7.

usually 500watts is decent for most

1000 is the next step and is a large improvement but you will get rattles

if you are trying to get the most bass out of a small area a small sealed box will suit you well. Most newer 10" subs work well in .5 cube box....roughly 7"deep x 14" tall x14"wide

lots of bass 1.5 cubes ported to 33hz is what most people like.

Let’s say I get the jl 1000/1 amp can I hook up just hook it up to 1 x 10w6 and then later on hook it up to another one? I can only buy like a few pieces at a time. Out of 1-10 I would rate my stock speakers at 2 and would like something around 5 or 6 as far as loudness. Plus I want to buy a good Amp right now so I wouldn’t have to buy one later on when I decide to go big on the whole system.

4 channel amp for the inside speakers, 2 channel amp for the subs, look into phoenix gold components for the front and in the rear you want coaxials not components, phoenix gold makes great speakers

Actually. ......I do most of my friends installs for some pizza and whatever.

If its someone I really don't know...maybe $40 plus materials.

Audio is my love. Both home and car audio make me happy.

How much of a step up is a 500 watt Sub and Amp from the stock stuff?? Because I turn my stock Bose all the way up and it was loud not really good sound quality though.

no sorry im in the DFW area

The entire bose set up is the problem

They market it as premium but its not even close.

If you are just looking for a sub and amp combo then yes a ~500rms watt amp is a good start.

Depending on what kinda music you like and how much bass you like, this may or may not be enough for the sub stage.

another bad thing is that you cant go to your friends car and assume the same set up he has in your car will sound the same in your car.

300 watts in his car may sound tiny in your car
