Hello everyone, my mechanic added a bit too much engine oil when I got my change yesterday. He put ~6 quarts in there. I feel like there's a loss in power. Any suggestions?

I don't understand his sudden incompetence. My car burns oil after ~1k. Is it necessary that I drain a quart as soon as I can?

If your crankshaft dips into the oil while it's turning, the weight of the oil will slow it down, and that is where you feel a loss of power. Imagine how damaging that can be to the motor - it's almost like reaching in there with something and jamming the moving parts. If you start hearing new sounds and its diagnosed that you need new bearings, you know why.

Also it'll start burning a whole bunch of oil and your cats won't like that at all

Noob question

So I was planning on getting a z tube, do I need to get a filter with it or not, most I've found don't come with filters. Also I was going to go with stillen, but saw you could use the 350z intake and swap it on..am I correct?

You will be fine swapping the g-tube for either an oem z-tube or the Stillen z-tube without changing the intake box or filter. There is a lot of info on this simple mod, it seems you need to just do a quick search and a little reading about it so you can understand what a z-tube really is.

^^correct, many just do a simple z-tube swap and drop in filter for better results

Yea I was at that point once. I was gonna get the stillen z tube with stillen intake but then I read somewhere on this forum that the stillen z tube is low quality and pics were shown of the inside which had things sticking out and random holes which would cause turbulance of the air passing through the tube. I ended up going with the OEM z tube with stillen intake.

I'm sure you wouldn't notice that little tiny difference but it's something to keep in mind when buying and I'm picky.
