Help and advice needed, 2005 G35
My first post on this forum. To the point, I purchased new from the dealer, a 2005 G35 Sedan in Dec of 05. Around the middle of 07 I noticed 3 spots on the hood about 1/2 inch in diameter. Looked like the paint was failing. Closer inspection was small seedlings from a tree had melted, hot here in Sacramento, and went all the way to the paint. We had the service manager look at it during the next oil change and he just blew it off, "you got something caustic on it". More on why this is important in a bit. Fast forward to late 09 I begin to see larger spots on the car. Hood, roof of the car, approx 2 inchs dia, looked like the paint was crystalizing from underneath. Service sends me to their paint shop for a report that was not shared with me. Car gets worse, huge areas, like a foot square on the hood, trunk lid, and roof. Service tells me, car is now off warranty, "dont worry, if there is a defect we will take care of it." I wait for 3 months for the "district service advisor" to make it to town. Today I leave the car, in the afternoon the service manager calls and tells me, "sorry, they are not going to do anything for you". End of story. So I tell the service manager, I buy a $35.000 car from you and at 4 years the paint fails and that is OK? Yup apparently it is.
The car is a very light green silver color, I checked the original window sticker and do not see a color. Can anyone tell me what it might be and if anyone is aware of paint issue service bulletins that may be out there? During one of the service visits, one of their techs came by and commented "I have seen this before, the clearcoat is failing".
Suggestions?? Thanks and looking forward to your info
