Help needed with bumper making
Hi All,
I'm in the proecess of asking a factory of making me a bumper and skirts but they have asked me for more information. THey were asking for the weight, size, design, a 3D cad model or render, materials. Can anyone help me out? They say they can make any thing as long as they have these few things. Things from bumpers, skirts, bodykit, headlights, A/C cooling, taillights, etc. As long as they have a 3D Render of it. Thanks
If I can provide with such stuff I can help guys on here to possibly find cheaper place to get body parts.
Bumper I want is the sportec, nismo, impul or something new rendered from scratch. any suggestions?
i'm also trying to get an idea of what new headlight and taillight design would look nice for an 03-04 sedan. i have a pair of projectors ready to be put in, and I might as well see if I can change the design of it. Anyone have any ideas?

First things first, are you wanting this out of polyurethane or fiberglass? The money needed upfront for the poly molds is pretty steep and not really worth it unless you have a few extra buyers.
I do a lot of 3D design, but have never tried a bumper before. If you're looking to create something from scratch, I wonder if the company you contacted has an SLS printer or something similar to create the mold.

I do got the pictures, they have the machines i guess cause they showed me pictures of the molds they made for A/C, bumpers, headlights, etc.. off audi cars. So they say they can make it as long as i give them a 3d rendering, and tell them the weight, size, and material.

Without a bumper to measure off of, it will be VERY difficult to create a 3D model of it and have the fitment turn out well. You also have to consider the anchor points of the bumper where it bolts to the car and that's impossible to do based on an image.
The best course of action would be to get the bumper itself, have a prototyping company roto-scan it, and build the mold off of it. The scan will create a complex wireframe, which becomes the base for the mold or 3D print.
I use Cinema 4D, Strata 3D CX6, Solidworks, Maya, and Auto-CAD on a daily basis for my job. While Cinema 4D and Strata are cheap(ish) 3D software programs, they are at best for presentation only. The lack of precision control of the CVs and vague manipulation of NURBS keep those programs from being used to produce a good prototype.
Maya and Solidworks are much more suited to product development, albeit a LOT more expensive. However, if you don't have any experience with 3D software, the learning curve for any of these programs is steep.
Honestly, your best bet is to bone up on your German or French, contact Sportec, and beg them to make you one.

I do a lot of 3d stuff, and this sounds like a ton of work. you would have to map all of the mounting locations/holes, as well as map the cutouts for the lights, sidemarkers, wheel wells, match adjacent panels, hole for grille... With all things considered, I would say leave it to the professionals.

Although if you're stubborn enough to still try and go through with this, then you'll absolutely HAVE to get a real bumper to map out the mounting points...
Also, to get you started on the design, here's a 3D rendering of the entire car.
IDK how accurate or detailed the bumper is, but I guess something is better than nothing.
