Headlight Question
Headlight Question
Sorry for this guys. Please excuse the newbie. I want to replace one of my headlights on my 06 G35 sedan because it's cloudy, rather than refurbish it, but am confused with all that's available. It works fine, so I assume I just need a new "lens", right? What's a reasonable cost for this? Are there different ones or was there only 1 headlight version available for sedans? ...I'm just talking OEM here. Thanks

just refurbish them its not worth the money to replace them just because they are foggy depending on how bad they are try using plastix or the 3m healight restore kit

There are three headlights
03 Halogen
03-04 hid
05-06
Unfortunatly if you want new for your 06...dealer is your only option. You won't like the price
All the aftermarket headlights on eBay are 03 halogen style and will not fit your 06

Ok
I have seen some used in new condition on ebay...much cheaper than the dealer, just want to be sure I buy the correct one. Were they all HID? Are there different styles? Can I just unplug the electronics from mine and put them into the new one?
You need a headlight from an 05-06 sedan. They were all hid and yes you can swap your electronics over to it.
Halogen was only on early 2003 models and 03-04 headlights don't really fit the 05-06 sedan

IMO if the headlight is just cloudy, not cracked or scratched, just get it polished, it will last for a while, and save you lots of work to drop the bumper, swap the ballast, bulb, etc. New headlight will get cloudy eventually, just a matter of time; and who knows those ebay ones were not refurbished/polished before? Cheap parts are usually being cheap for a reason. Just my 2 cents.
Its a good route to take. If it doesn't work out to your liking you could always opt out for your way. FYI I used rubbing compound on my lights and I'm satisfied on how they came out.
If you take your time and do it right, you won't be disappointed with the results. I refurbished the yellowed headlights on my mom's 2000 Camry with the 3M kit this past weekend, and they look brand new.
