Exclamation black smoke?! help

my buddy was next to me while driving and he noticed that when i accelerated hard, black smoke came out of my muffler... is this bad? what could be the cause?

its an 04 with 120kms on it. also has a coupe mid pipe.

any ideas?

nope..
black smoke would indicate an overly rich condition....aka unburned fuel...
blue smoke = oil and white = coolant..
What mods do you have?

It could be considered normal if it's under full throttle, especially in warmer temps where the car will richen the mixture to reduce detonation.

a stillen intake, coupe mid-pipe. do you know how i could fix this? the smoke only came out when i accelerated hard.

I would look into getting it tuned..Those two items shouldn't make your car run rich..was it a lot of smoke or a little? Was it near redline?

i should probably get the car checked at the infiniti service centre then eh? and i reved it pretty high ye, first time i did that. it never comes out when i drive normally. and i think it was more then just a little bit of smoke.

Seafoam it, drive the holy hell out of it, and then see if it still does it.
It's called an Italian tune-up
