Changing center brake light

Has anyone changed the center brake light on a first gen G35 sedan, with out wing. Just found out today mine is out, dealer wants 350.00 to replace. I can get teh part online for like 150.00. Looks like it requires removing rear seat and package shelf. How difficult is it? Am I better off just letting the dealer do it?

Common issue

It can be done, but gotta go in through the back seat to get one of the bolts. Just set aside a Saturday where you have nothing to do, some beer and some good assorted tools and you'll get it done

The best way to do it is to remove the seats and rear shelf so you can gain full access. I haven't tested it out, but if you have reclining seats it may be possible to remove the rear shelf without removing the seats first.

You can also access it through the trunk, but you will need to drill a hole to be able to access the passenger side screw.

I did this last month so let me know if you have any questions.

I did it by going through my trunk and reaching up. Drivers side screw is easy, passenger side not so much. I didn't i=even end up putting it in, just tightened down the drivers side well. Seems to be holding in place!

^ I don't know how you removed that passenger side screw without drilling a hole. I couldn't even see it, much less get a screwdriver up there.

I had just enough wiggle room to get it out.
