The vendor PM'D me a price of $599.99

I replied back stating that $450.00 would be a fair price that the market would yield on these... (I figured since other projectors available online from reputable companies are in the $200-$350 range and nicer...) I also recommended a poll so forum members could vote on a price they would pay.

You could open up your own headlights and do something nicer for the same money (if not less)

It's nice to buy a complete setup ready to install, but the set pictured here is not really that nice.

I agree that the halo look is not that great: led rings perhaps.

i don't know why everyone is hating. these aren't a custom setup made to your liking. they're the only plug & play option currently/soon to be on the market. and everyone who thinks these are hella expensive, they're not. last time i looked into doing a custom setup it was gonna be around this much in parts. yeah, i woulda went ultra premium BUT it woulda been custom, so why not go all out. this isn't custom. the reason none of these small time projector gurus on 'Driver have put out anything in a large scale is because it's too hard to make a profit on building projectors. this company here has the means to semi-mass produce a few sets for a limited release and still turn a decent profit. would i rather pay $400, of course. but to act like $600 is some obscene price is dumb. i hope they do either come down in price or add more customization or both but it's by no means a deal breaker. it look's like the few sets they made are hand assembled, so i can understand why they're not $250 a set like they are for some of there other applications. considering these are currently only being marketed as a limited production run of 14 or so, these will end up being a pretty rare piece. $599 is a reasonable price(if these are exactly what you're looking for), $499 is a fair price and $399 would be a steal.

No wonder I hardly get an 03/04 sedan customers.... ya'll are some cheap as$es lol. My average customer pays $600 to put in 20 led's and some paint work into their G35/7 coupe headlights.

A real deal retrofit with a OEM projector would run nearly $1000+ if you were to have someone do it for you. Obviously you won't get the same quality as OEM, but that's why its $600.

If only you guys knew how much it is to pass produce aftermarket headlights.

I didn't know we drove BMWs, I'm sure if we did we wouldn't have any problem getting our pockets raped.

My quads are costing $500, and they're using TL projectors, not garbage depos.

Jorge, I mod for me. Not some hooker who doesn't know ****.

LOL at this post.

SDGenius: who is hating.

I see many of us have modded our cars to our liking, and many still look very respectable. To purchase the above mentioned headlights, that may not suit your car 100%... that is not right. These projectors do not look like quality projectors, and many are better off running the OEM set and paying someone (or doing it themselves) to mod there OEM headlights to there liking.

I will not spend $600 on a set that does not suit my taste / my car, but I would spend this any day to get what I want. I know its feasibly to source all the parts necessary for less then $600 and do it myself. I also see many that are willing to help do the mod with supplied parts, and accepting $100 - $150 to do the modifications necessary.

$600 for an off the shelf set is fine if they are not cheesy looking and using lower end parts. You could buy the cheap blacked out headlights for less then $200, CCFL kit for $50, or better yet LED's, and actual projectors like the TL etc... and have it all said and done for less then $600, better looking and better parts. Using your own stock headlights to start would net you even a greater deal: if you are okay with some downtime from your car.

The vendor could start at $200 for the blacked out headlights, then add options / labor from that point to make this a respectable upgrade.

$200 for the blacked out headlights (or less)
$200 for TL projectors
$50 for LED ring / CCFL
$100 for labour (I think that is fair)...
$50 to custom paint if wanted...

$600 still, and with the opportunity to chose the LED, CCFL color you want, and option of painted housing.

TL Projectors (Pair is $200.00 CAD) http://xenmod.ca/index.php?main_page...&products_id=7
even less for other types...http://xenmod.ca/index.php?main_page...5964c508d93f20

4DGS, who is doing your mod? I see that you offer painting service, but are you also doing the headlight retrofit yourself?

$500 is a good price for quads.

Not doing it my self. Brandon is doing mine.

Anthony, they DO looks cheesy though. You slap halos in anything and it makes it look cheap.

Its odd, as I was typing cheesy... I was thinking that it has been such a long time I have heard / used that term. Thing is, it matches these halo rings...

Who is Brandon?

This is an example of a nice retrofit

^ Is that in CAD ?

Seriously though, $100-$150 in labor for a projector retrofit? Is that realistic? I always assumed (and I know nothing of the time it takes to do a retrofit) that the labor involved was time-consuming and not inexpensive? Maybe I don't know the right people ?

Maybe I am off on the labor... but to bake open the blacked out headlights, and install projectors and halos or led rings and reseal, what is the price on this forum?

I have searched locally on forums, kijiji etc... and I found a guy out of Brampton that would paint my housing and install projectors and leds for $200.00 labor plus parts. He has done many other cars including G coupes, but never a sedan. He is the one that I may take mine to if I choose to do the headlights. (note his price is what it is, because I am supplying parts)

The vendor would be buying parts in bulk, and since they have the contacts (that is what they do), they are making money of each part already.
