I tried to capture every combination of 03-04 and 05-06 rear bumper and mudguards with and without Nismo that I could remember. Hopefully this helps show the difference between the OEM 03-04 and 05-06 bumpers and the fact that the mudguard is necessary to help line things up properly for the 05-06 guys who want to run the Nismo (or an 03-04 that wants an OEM 05-06 bumper)

03-04 Rear on 03-04 Sedan

03-04 mudguards

05-06 rear on 03-04 with 03-04 mudguards, note that it doesn't line up properly

05-06 bumper/mudguards on 05-06 Sedan

05-06 bumper/mudguards (and splashguards) on 05-06 Sedan

03-04 bumper installed on 05-06 Sedan with 05-06 mudguards

03-04 bumper with Nismo lip molded on an 05-06 Sedan with 03-04 mudguards

Here's another pic slowing the difference between the 03/04 and 05/06 mudgrards. This is the same as before (05/06 bumper, 03/04 mudguards) only painted this time.

Why not make a rear bumper? True it will cost more than a lip, but it would be universal for 03-06 rather than having to make lips for an 03-04 and 05-06. Unless cost wise for the business, it's not much of a difference to make two separate lip kits instead of a single, full rear bumper.

Higher cost to ship, not the same impact protection as OEM and it will cost more and paint would be a lot more. It would also put this product out of reach of most buyers.

Thanks

Ok so the rear mud flaps are on there as a part of the body, what if we mod the rear lip to include a flange so it will help line it up? Would that be possible? Worst case we will also make those mudguards.

^Kinda on the right track.
They're called "mudguards" by Nissan, but they're not exactly a mudflap, that's more the roll of the "splahguard"

The mudguards are an actual finishing piece designed very similar to the side skirts.
I wish I had a pic of the car with the mudguard off. That pic would really help.
I would take mine off and post a pic, but I have splashguards on top of them now, so it's not that easy.
Maybe one of the other members can go take theirs off and snap a few pics? It only takes like 5 mins to uninstall them.

The mudguard locks into a slot on the rear lip and then is bolted. I have the actual instructions from Nissan. Ill try and scan it so you will see.

That's what I kind of figured. In that case, both the business and consumer would benefit with the lips. Wasn't sure so thought I'd ask.

I iconic makes it, ans especially with the mudguards integrated.

Doesnt look like ill be getting anything together, as I am not in the business to sell car parts,( I wouldnt really be making any money on the lips I would have sold) so not worth the risk for me to get it developed.

^^ Hit me up, we can work something out, and I prefer something that's has been fitted, that way we know that it fits properly.
