The trunk “pull” handle pulled out.

The other night I went to close the trunk on my sedan with the “pull” handle. I pulled downward and the plastic handle/cup came right out. Of course after reinserting it into the hole, it fits sloppily and pulls out easily. It shouldn’t be a problem getting a warranty fix but has anyone else had this happen?

Re: The trunk “pull” handle pulled out.

Mine's been pulled out since about 3 months into owning my car. I had the dealer fix it, only for it to come out again. I gave up, it's not that important. I think they just try to tape it in place.

Re: The trunk “pull” handle pulled out.

I’m on my fourth one in 1.5 years. Mine likes to fall out during the hot AZ summers. I think I’ll keep having Infiniti fix it while it’s under warranty, but after that, I’ll just leave it out since it’s not that big of a deal to me. I think a few people have used a black silicone adhesive to glue it back in.

Re: The trunk “pull” handle pulled out.

There is not much material left on the little plastic tabs that hold the cup in. I am going to ask for a new one.

Granted, this is not a major defect but it is an inexcusable flaw, given current engineering and manufacturing capabilities. This is the sort of silly nuisance I would see when servicing Hyundais in the mid-eighties.
