Re: Mileage after break in

On my first extended drive in the G35 Sedan last week to the Masters I averaged 24.5mpg staying at 75-95mph ... I am actually averaging over 20mpg around town lately ... I was averaging 14.5-17 mpg for the first 2500 miles (fast starts eats up mileage)

Re: Mileage after break in

i've got 1600+ miles (city and highway evenly) on my G and have yet to hit 20 mpg. best has been around 18.5.

i rarely get the car above 2.5k rpm in the city and still only get about 15 mpg if i drive all city. so it's not like i have a heavy foot.

Re: Mileage after break in

hey Blue, Glad to see your mileage is coming around a bit and improving. Now ya know how i get better mileage and it aint because i'm stooging around town at 10 mph or because i'm an old fart hahahaha. You're right- fast starts kill the mileage. I generally (not toatally) try to avoid them and have fun other ways.

Re: Mileage after break in

I filled up Monday morning and have since been avoiding all fast starts, but still continuing to cruise at 75-85mph. I've typically gotten between 20.5 and 22.5 MPG during my weekday commute, let's see how much my mileage will improve by avoiding fast starts. My goal is to get 400 plus miles from this tank; I usually fill up at around 360/380 miles with about 17-18 gallons... gonna try out my reserve, and then some!

I agree dude, jack rabbit starts kill the mileage most. Be careful going too far past when the fill light comes on tho. Sometimes there's a gallon or two that you can't use. Tell us how you do bro. G/L

Re: Mileage after break in

Damn...didn't do so great on mileage. I have the next few days off so any driving will be city type, so filled up again with 16.03 gallons and 361.9 miles on the tripmeter. That works out to 22.58 MPG.

When I get back to my weekday commute next week, I'll fill again and check my mileage with normal driving. I was really hoping to get close to 24mpg.....

Re: Mileage after break in

After about 5000 miles, I am getting between 23 and 25 with mixed driving from the 6MT using Premium 91 octane from Arco/BP. I do not make a habit of punching it at lights but feel compelled to drive as fast a traffic will let me on the freeways. I am sure I would do better if I'd keep the freeway speeds under 75...but why?

G35/S/MT....this car rocks!

Re: Mileage after break in

After I got larger, heavier and wider tires my mileage went south. Just enough so it was noticable.

What tires did you go with? On stock wheels?

Re: Mileage after break in

Whoops, never mind. I read your other post. Of course going to 18s will increase the wheel weight, and Chrome wheels always weigh more. How much did your gas mileage drop. What's the total weight of each wheel now?
