Mileage after break in

Past the break in miles and did a road trip of 225 miles each way. I am getting 20 miles to the gallon. This trip I did between 70-80 miles per hour which probably killed the mileage.

Re: Mileage after break in

I think you're right about the speed. I just did a 100 mile trip at 60-65 mph resulting in 27 mpg.(32 to our size gallon). I'm happy with that. but once your speed is up above 70 the mileage quickly goes south.

Re: Mileage after break in

20 mpg while averaging 70-80 mph is a little low. My weekday commute is 90% highway at 75-85 mph, 60 miles one way, and I consistently experience 22mpg; I drive pretty aggresively and spirited.

To run fast for a short distance. How is that relevant to the topic at hand?

I think pesti misread 'spirited' as 'sprinting'. He's spending too many hours on the forum and his eyes are going!

And he's a 20 year old veteran! Imagine what it's like at 55. Oops I mean 35.

Re: Mileage after break in

I don't understand why so many people are reporting results much below rating. I've been hanging arround in the altima forums and those owners don't report results as bad as G35 drivers. Additionally, the G has many other things going for it; lower drag (right?), 5th gear (auto, but don't know the ratios), RWD (supposed to have less power loss?)

So, I don't quite get it. Maybe most of you live in low density populations without traffic and can open it up all the time back and forth to work. Not here, traffic's everywhere, not stop and go, but plenty of cars to block progress...

Re: Mileage after break in

I just got back from a 110 mile trip, mostly highway miles but let the GF drive around town and on the highway for about a 1/2 hour.

Got just a little over 26 mpg, a bit more than I expected after reading some of the posts here. I didn't baby it getting up to speed either.

My car has a total of 400 miles on it, and I'm very pleased with the results so far. I've been using 91 octane gas; would use higher but that's as high as it gets around here.

Re: Mileage after break in

i'm curious, on your drive for the 20 mpg, did you have a/c on?

Re: Mileage after break in

I am going on a road trip through Nevada next week. My 6mt has 1400 miles on it. I will let you know what my mileage is.

Re: Mileage after break in

Hopefully, with the sixth gear, you should get pretty good mileage. BTW, what's the EPA rating on the 6MT?
