2004 G35x Sedan Build Thread
Just wanted to share some of my build since I've picked up this car. It's an 04 Infiniti G35x sedan with an STS rearmount turbo kit. It was tuned at GRD in IL using Uprev Osiris and since purchasing it, the upgrades have been flowing.
The car was already turbo'ed and tuned when I bought it. However, it was basically a stock G35x with a turbo bolted on and tuned. It's currently at 4 psi and put down 300 AWHP and 250 AWTQ at GRD on the dyno. Plans are to add a Hallman MBC and up that to around 8ish psi shooting for high 300's AWHP and low to mid 300's AWTQ. Before doing that though I've been working on some other supporting mods.

I cleaned up the turbo piping under the car. Sanded everything down, got rid of the surface rust and hit it with rust reforming paint. Looks much more stealthy and clean in my opinion. Sorry for more big pics. Any ways, just figured I'd post up a couple:

I had the car up for sale for a steal for about a month and a half or so just as a feeler. Since the car didn't sell, I'm keeping it and continuing modding. I cleaned it up yesterday and did the 3M headlight refurbishing (which I highly recommend if you have any yellowing/chips on your headlights). Here are some pics of the headlights. It's pretty hard to tell in them, but they were yellowed and very chipped before and now they look new again.
Also, just placed an order at Summit for a Transgo shift kit/auto transmission reprogramming kit that should really quicken up the shifts. Got a transmission cooler to so can't wait to feel the results. Next step, clean up the wheels and get them powdercoated, rerun the piping under the car to improve flow and get it raised a little so no more rubbing, then boost controller and up the boost plus a retune.
Pics (sorta hard to tell how much clearer the headlights are. I had before and after pics but my wife apparently deleted them...):

I picked this stuff up and it's going in this Sunday, . Transgo shift kit/reprogram kit and transmission cooler. Should quicken up shifts, make manumatic mode more fun and prolong the life of the tranny. Getting ready for more boost.

Transgo and trans cooler are on the car. It was actually easier than we thought and probably only took about 4 and a half hours to do everything taking our time. Car feels great and the shifts are much quicker. The transmission just feels better. Thanks to my buddy Justin for the help and Mojo Offroad for the use of the lift!
So, I sold the coupe 19's to a good friend of mine who is building a semi-VIP inspired Altima. The rears needed new tires any ways, so I'm using the money from the sale of the stockers to purchase new wheels and tires all around for the car. Moving to 18's to make finding tires a little easier and also going wider. Since I'm not racing this car or autocrossing it at all I went with a staggered wheel setup (for looks) but of course, since it's AWD, the tires are all the same, 245/40 18's. Wheels come on Monday so no pictures until they are on the car, but the fronts are 8.5" wide and the rears are 9.5" wide. 2" lip in front and 3" lip in the rear.
I'm actually off Tuesday so I'm planning on having them mounted and balanced then. Here's a pic of the tires just waiting for Tuesday:

And here's some winter maintenance I did because I'm really **** retentive about the car and it's been bugging me. The old header wrap before the turbo was frayed and the pipe was seeping rust through it so I stripped it down, sanded it, hit it with rust reforming paint and rewrapped it in black/gray header wrap to clean it up a bit and get ready for winter:

Got the new wheels and tires on the car today. I love them! They give the car a really mean stance. Next up, rolling the rear quarters.
Benny's stock Altima wheels (which I'm using since he already took my old 19's) compared to the new wheels and tires:

Side shot of the new wheels:

Went ahead and painted the hubs and the calipers black:

Side shots:

Rear end shots. It's hard to capture in the bad lighting how mean this thing looks, but it looks pretty aggressive from behind:

Here are a few more pictures I took tonight. It looks really aggressive from the front and the back with the wider wheels but it's hard to get on camera. Looks meaner in person,
.
Up on a jack, but you can still see how wide they are:

Some other shots:

Tried to get the mean look of the rear in a couple pictures:

Here are a few updated pics with the new wheels and tires, the new scrape sticker, and debadged infiniti from the rear.

Took on a small project that I've been looking for a nice warm day to do for a couple weeks now. Painted the grill black and left the emblem chrome to bring more black/chrome into the overall look of the car since adding the new wheels.
Grill before (you can also see that it was pretty scratched and chipped up):

After 3 coats of Krylon Fusion gloss black and two coats of Duplicolor clear:

Infiniti Emblem taped off. Kept most of it chromed but it was pretty chewed up so I covered a lot of it in black. Not my best work but it looks decent:

Painted and with tape still on:

Grill-less:

Re-assembled and complete:

Shot with wheels and grill for reference. Black/Chrome for the win:

Just a quick update. It's been to cold to get the entire project done, but I did get the bumper modified. I never cared for the stock X bumper much with that large bar going across the Nismo-esque gaps in the front so I modified it. Yellow euro fogs will be going in on either side of the intercooler once I get motivated. I'll update with more pics once that's done. Here's a quick shot I took with my phone of the modified bumper.

Nice, after looking at that and how low I drive, I could not have one of those systems on my car. LOL
Btw you can go staggered on our cars. You don't have to run 245 all around.

With the AWD drive I do need to run the same size tires all around to prevent extra wear on the AWD system. It is really low. You should see where the intake pipe runs under the front axle. That's the next step, figuring out a better way to run it,

.
You can run different size tires with the same diameter (ie: 225/40 and 255/35) and it will work with the AWD.
Are you sure those torque numbers are correct? 250 Seems pretty low considering you're getting 300 HP to the wheels. Think about getting your rear alignment checked. You've got camber or toe issues with that worn inside tread. And are you sure that Transgo will work on your car? If memory serves, that kit was for a RWD only (RWD and AWD transmissions are not the same). I'd hate to see you go through all the trouble of dropping the tranny before finding out.
Nice car though. I'd love to turbo my AWD, but I just bought a house, so naturally I don't have any money, and I'm under warranty for another 2 years, so it's going to have to wait at least that long.
