'Service Engine Soon' light came on while stopped at stop sign HELP !
i was at a stop sign about to accelerate and my car would barely move when i hit the gas pedal..the traction control light came on along with the service engine soon light. So i turned the car off and on and then it started running normal again. But the service engine light stays on at all times now. My car has almost 65k miles and i changed the oil 1500 miles ago..
has this happened to anyone? what is going on with my car?? thanks

You need to hook up a scanner and pull the codes. Then you can start trying to figure out what's causing the issue. Could be a lot of things.
i recet the ecu back in october and everything was fine..went to get my car smogged and it didnt pass..took it to the dealership for a diagnostic and found out my cats were bad..they replaced those for free..
last night while driving home, same thing happened again at another stop sign..what the hell? i think i need to hook up a code reader to it and see whats up.. wouldnt have something shown up when the dealer did the diagnostic?

If they reused your O2 sensors they may have been going bad if the cats were bad. The dealership probably didnt want to deal with the hassle of changing them while they were in there.
like ppl said b4 cant really tell unless you get the code. but check your gas cap. it may sound dumb but thats one of the results from the code scanner

P0455 would be the code that is commonly set by the has cap I believe.
This is how to properly diagnose the problem
CEL light comes on
Step #1 eiTher purchase an ob2 reader ($75-125) ot take car to auto zone and have code read for free
Step #2 make thread listing code number and ask how to fix it.
If the cel is on, asking what it is without scanning is wasting time. No need to go to dealer....code readers are cheap and autozome will do it free

if the O2 sensors went bad because of the bad cats, would the dealer replace the O2 sensors under the cali 8 year 80k mile cat warranty?
If you are interested in performing your own maintainence, you could always buy a reader. There are plenty under $100
Heres one for under $60

And here's the one I have that works well

It's a tool that's always good to buy when you have some spare cash.

If you have a laptop or netbook, get this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=250731164056
I have one and it comes in pretty handy.
With it, not only can you read/clear codes, but you can also pull live data or datalog. That way you can do a little more advanced diagnostics than just reading codes.
