Hub Bearing Kit Replacement?
Hub Bearing Kit Replacement?
I just recently purchased an 04 G35x, and by just purchased I mean Friday of last week. Over the weekend I discovered that what I thought was normal engine roar was actually tire oscillation. Took it in to a local mechanic this morning and he determined that I was in need of hub bearing kits for both front wheels. Called the dealership and they said they would make it right. I took it back to the dealership this afternoon with an invoice of all the things my local mechanic pointed out. The dealership's mechanic said that he had already replaced one of the front wheel bearings, but said he would replace it again if he found my mechanic to be correct. Local law allows consumers to return their vehicle within 3 days if mechanical deficiencies are found, and the dealership offers a 30 day, 1,000 mile warranty. Is the need for new hub bearing kits on both wheels something that should dissuade me from purchasing this vehicle? If it isn't, what ways do you suggest I check the mechanic's workmanship to ensure the issue has been corrected? Thanks in advance.
My car started making a sound when I came to a stop so I took it to Infiniti and they swapped my front rims to see if the sound was still there. They determined that the sound was the hub bearings (replaced under warranty) and my tires are "feathered"
I have lots of tread on my tires so I have not replaced them but the sound is getting louder and more annoying.

I would tell the dealership that if they do not replace the bearing you will return the vehicle and not purchase another from them. I would tell this to the person who sold you the car so they can pressure the mechanic to fix the problem.
