05 g35 sedan - outer trunk release button problem

So my trunk release button under the driver side tail light does not work. When I bought the car, the mechanic that I had inspect the car before purchase said that he could see the plug and it is just unplugged, although he couldn't reach it with his hands. Anyone know where I can find instructions on how to get to that plug and plug it back in? Thanks!

Yes, that is normal. It just unlocks and opens a hair. It doesn't open fully. You gotta do that

Thanks clinthammer for the guide. It is very useful. It looks like i'm gonna have to take the whole bumper off.

Anyone else ever have this problem? Just wondering so I don't do this and it be a different problem
