so my situation is, sometimes i forget im running on D mode instead of MT so i accidently click it to N. in the situation i have been i cannot stop so i am forced to put it back into Drive.. how bad is this? and is there anyway to prevent this? would the shift lock fix this or does that only prevent it from shifting to all the way to park?

All cars will allow shifting from d to nuetral. You must depress the button to shift past that. If you needed to push a button to go to nuetral, you run the risk of accidentally shifting to reverse.

You can shift between drive and nurpetral while moving. Before you put the car in drive though, let off the throttle and then shift to drive. Don't shift at a higher rpm.
