Hey guys, it rained on sunday here in long beach and on monday I opened my car door and it smelled like milldue or mold. I checked all of my windows and my doors but everything was closed. However my entire passenger carpet (front to rear seat) was soaking wet and full of water!
Any idea where it came from? I started driving and water started dripping from the opening or "vent" directly underneath the clove box (not where the actual warm air from the a/c comes from the side of the center console) . How did water get thru there in the first place? It has never been any type of leak before and its rained harder than on sunday. Please help, dont want it to happen again.

My friend's Hyundai Genesis 2.0T had this exact same issue. It turned out to be some A pillar leak.

Glove box? Sounds like your cabin filter.
There's a DIY on replacing it. Pull that out and see if the filter is mangled.
I highly doubt you actually have a leak in the A pillar.

Do you have any wires ran through the firewall from the engine bay, like audio power wire???

Open your sunroof. On both sides there should be little wholes to the front of the car. Take a thin piece of wire and stick it into this hole. In my wifes car these got clogged and we always had 2 inches of water in the car when it rained.

@4DGS: No, not from the actual glove box. Its from a vent underneath the glove box.

First the inlet for the interior fan is behind the glove box. Second i cant find what year g im workn with so heras some stuff you can do.
- Remove the batt and check the seals around the lower windshield trim ect. (When you take out the batt you'll be able to see the cabin filter/ airbox)
- Remove the glove box (i need a year and ill tell exactly how to do it, not hard at all) and cabin filter. If you havent been replacing your cabin roughly every 15k their is a very good possibility you have a build up of dirt/debris. This causes a problem becauses condensation/ water naturaly pools there inside the airbox but theirs a small drain hose thats supposed to do away with the water. (Summer time and your a/c's on and your car has water dripping out of it, thats what im alking about) If it clugged you can go to a parts store or dealer and buy stuff that kills mold and cleans out that line.
Try that stuff out first as well as the sunroof drains. Apillar leaks are not common on g's

Compressed air helps. A quick blast can help blow it loose. Good sunroof maintainence includes making sure the drains stay clear. If they are, it usually prevents most leaks

ok thanks , its an 05 btw. You are right though, I haven't changed the in-cabin filter and its been 57k. Will be sure to try and do all of which was stated
