Re: Factory rear bumper replacement

I had my car hit from behind by a Subaru Forester. He broke his molding around the light, dented the bumper, and I ended up with a scratch on the bumper....
I thought this bumper was awesome! (the scratch still sucks)

In case anyone is interested, the folks over at everythingg35.com has this to say:

Yes, we do stock them. They do not come pre-painted though.
They run $184.15 plus shipping (they have to go by truck as well).

PaulR,

You can remove your rear bumper and press that dent out. Look at the results before you do anything.

As long as the paint isn't cracked, you are in better condition than most.

Well, the final total came out to be $573.65. The Energy Absorber ended up not needing to be replaced, so it actually ended up being cheaper going with the shop I preferred.

I haven't heard you mention insurance. Is your deductable too high?

I think we've all learned a valuable lesson by this incident...never let you wife drive your G!

No kidding. Right now she's too scared to even ask for the keys again.

The deductible's $500, so filing a claim on this, even if it was $700 to fix, didn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

The only thing that would change it would be if the person she hit claimed their damage was another $500 or so, so if my total damages got might higher than they are now, I'll submit the repair bill to my insurance company.

But as of yet, we haven't heard anything at all from them (crossing fingers).

Re: Factory rear bumper replacement

Lucked out on the other car. The owner called a few days ago and thanked my wife for leaving the note and said that they saw no damage, so they're not going to pursue the issue.

At least the bleeding stopped.

Re: Factory rear bumper replacement

I had hit and run on last Sunday. My insurance company(All State) estimated $681 for replacing rear bumper, and they issued a $181 check since my deductable is $500. They said that the deductable will be waived if the other car has no insurance. However, CHP has not found the other car even though I gave them the license plate number.
