So, what a way to end 2010. Bunch of BS.

K so just recently, my airbag light began flashing to me on my dash. Didn't know what the deal was, so I set up and appointment to have it checked out. I had no idea what the deal was and attributed it to the airbag recall I did about a month ago.

Today I go in, drop the car off, and continue on my merry way over to the Mall of America to do some shopping for Christmas.

Get a call in the middle of some amazing Orange Chicken from Panda Express saying that my airbag control module for the left side had gone out and that it was no longer covered under my warranty because it ended TEN DAYS AGO. The cost you say to fix? $1300+a $120 diagnostic charge for looking at it.

I flip **** and call my mom who calls the dealer back and gets a little more information since she works for Allstate and isn't car stupid. After a bit shes on the phone with Infiniti corporate who are saying it should be covered under the warranty etc etc.

Lots of phone calls later, I am standing in the dealer and my favorite service manage finally calms my mom down and tells her that the claim with Infiniti should get back to them by Thursday and then they will know as hes gonna go to bat for us with infiniti to fix it (since the warranty literally ran out on the 11th)

So now my airbags don't work, and it is hell on the roads. Lovely. BTW, is an airbag control model SUPPOSED to be going out? I have NEVER heard of that especially since my car only has 64,400miles.

What a day.

I think they even extended the warranty on that issue.

Are you trying to get this covered under bumper-to-bumper or powertrain? I'm guessing your bumper-to-bumper ran out a while ago and this doesn't seem like something that would be covered under powertrain.

Anyway, good luck. I've had to argue with my dealer before over covering pretty basic things under my elite extended warranty.

Edit: Nevermind, just saw that Powertrain covers air bags and related electronic control systems.

Don't you still have your powertrain warranty? 70k miles or 6 years? Or did that just run out?

Sorry to hear that Janik. My airbag light started flashing about 3 weeks ago and I just reset it with the procedure I found on here. So far it hasn't returned so we'll see. I've also had the recall done so I'm scared it might be something like you are dealing with.

My dealership refused to fix my axle click even though I was just over the 70K mark when it started clicking. Sucks they have the power to decide who to help and who not to.

I guess all my warranties are out. I honestly thought that I had another year still, but I guess no. What a PITA.

I just talked to Infiniti consumer affairs and the guy was just not willing to work. It looks like my mom is going to have to call back and figure it out and communicate with my service manager and he can try to talk with them.

This is just unreal. How the hell does this **** go out at 64k miles?

try the self reset. It will make the light go away but if it comes back soon, then you'll know its a big issue.

They reset the light, but said that it should end up coming back on. It was off on my drive home though.

It sucks that it happened so close to your warranty running out, but they aren't technically doing anything wrong.

If you do end up getting it fixed under warranty, it will probably have something to do with your being a good customer in the past. It's good customer service, but most dealers probably wouldn't do it on such an expensive repair. Maybe they'll at least cut you a deal on the price of the part/labor.

At least it's not like my friend's dealer (same one I bought my car from) that fried the computer in his S60R and refused to pay for the repairs. He was out $2K on that deal.

infiniti should cover things like this no matter how long your warranty is over..air bags are something for safety and they shouldnt be malfunctioning..
