Issue with coupe seat swap
Hey all, got my coupe seats today and had time to begin to install the driver seat. Got the stock out and the coupe seat in, all 3 plugs seemed to be plug and play. Was very excited at this point. Now here's where I need help.
When I went to start the car it turned over just fine, but wouldn't catch like it was missing spark or fuel. The power seats work like they should, seats go back and forth/up and down just fine so I'm at a loss as to what to look for. The swap is 05-05 but I don't know what options the coupe had. I have heated and memory seats, the coupe didn't have memory seats I know that for sure. I didn't beat the rain, so I'll have to get back to it in the morning.
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. It's almost like a sensor of some sort isn't working and has put the car in shut down mode if our cars have that sort of thing.

Never heard of this issue before either. I can't imagine that this would happen in the case that you didn't disconnect your battery when unpluging the airbag sensor, so I'm at a loss as to what is going on.
I dont see how a seat will do that? I had one of my chairs unplugged and out of my car for 2 weeks. I also know someone who has an 07 sedan that ran without a front seat to take pics from his car.
I think its coincidence.

Put the sedan seat back in. Leave the battery unhooked. If its still doing the same thing then i doubt its seat related. Hope you get this figured out tim
Also i would check all fuses. If you had the battery hooked up and made the connections sometimes a fuse will blow.

I remember switching out the dash bulbs on my dads 00 corolla and the car struggled to turn back on. Turned out it was a mirage of things. A fuel filter, exhaust and a few other things. That is a severe example but still, just saying it's possible to be a coincidence but I'd check out the simple stuff first as others have mentioned.
Tim, did you unhook the battery and then reconnect it? If not, you might try that first (easy)
Next, you may want to try with both seats unplugged entirely.
If that doesn't do it, swap back to the sedan seats and give it a go.
Also, don't forget to check all your fuses.

Thanks for all the help guys. I have reset the ECU by the battery method and it didn't work. I'll get out in a little bit and check the sedan seat and the fuses. Of course I'll keep you posted.
I seriously doubt the issue is with the seats. I had a bit more in depth wiring and turned my key on by accident which set off the airbag light, but I reset it and everything works fine and has for years.

OK fellas here's a small update. Had to replace the battery, that was the first step. Here's where it gets a little weird. Plugged sedan seat in this afternoon and it works fine, car runs fine. This morning after I replaced the battery I began to troubleshoot.
Began by removing all plugs from the coupe seat, car started fine
Plugged in just the airbag plug, car started just fine
Plugged in the seatbelt plug, car started just fine
Plugged in the power seat plug, seats work, car WON'T start-Really WTF?!?!?! The car will start no problem with any combination of plugs hooked up except for the power harness. I also have no heat working so I'm going to assume the heat wire is in the power harness somewhere.
So now I'm at a real loss as to why this is happening. All fuses are good. The passenger seat doesn't line up with the power plug, so I'm going to have to do some splicing of that seat. What I might do is find a wiring diagram for the 05 coupe seats/05 sedan seats and try to splice the wires on the driver side to maybe bypass the issue.
So for the time being I adjusted the driver seat to where I want it, disconnected the power plug, and bolted the seat down. My poor car looks like a bastard child with one black seat, but damn that seat's comfortable.
