Battery dying in keyless...

It works once in a while, always for ignition but does not always lock/unlock doors. I think the battery is dying. What battery would an 05 G35x take for keyless? ALSO, do I need to have the keyless reprogrammed after I replace the battery? Thanks

Just open it up and look.

Never mind...I'll do it for you. CR2023 button cell.

No you don't need to reprogram

Edit: this is for the intelligent key

Take key out, stick a fingernail in the seam on the side and pry apart.

It's fairly rugged. Mins is now falling apart due to a valet smashing it off the ground. Still works fine.

I've replaced the battery a couple times. Regardless of battery charge level, the iKey sucks. I don't know if the problem lies with the car's remote receiver (whatever you want to call it) or the iKey itself, but the range is miserable, and the car often thinks the key isn't inside the car when in fact it is. The remote on my old Mercury was far superior.

old thread but this is what a quick search turned up so i'll post here.

does anyone know the brand of battery that this remote came with from the factory?
I know I could easily just buy a panasonic but I'm curious
mine feels weak and the info on the back reads:
3V Lithium renana CR 2025
so the brand is renata.
is there a possibility that perhaps the original owner never replaced the battery?

buy at least a known name brand

but in most cases a battery will work, the reserve times are what makes batteries "better"

I was dropping off the GF the other day and when she closed the passenger door to leave
the red key light in the dashboard turned on and the car started beeping so I figured the
battery is starting to go out.

I just went to a local Nissan dealer and they gave me two batteries for free, they'll have tons sitting around usually.

Did she have the key? That's how the car responds when you take the ikey out and close the door while it's running - warning you that if you drive away the car will be immobilized by the security system (because you are driving it without a key).

When you start the car with the ikey inside watch the key symbol on the dash. If it blinks green for 30 seconds it means you need a new battery in the fob.
