Battery dying in keyless...

I've replaced the battery a couple times. Regardless of battery charge level, the iKey sucks. I don't know if the problem lies with the car's remote receiver (whatever you want to call it) or the iKey itself, but the range is miserable, and the car often thinks the key isn't inside the car when in fact it is. The remote on my old Mercury was far superior.

old thread but this is what a quick search turned up so i'll post here.
does anyone know the brand of battery that this remote came with from the factory?
I know I could easily just buy a panasonic but I'm curious
mine feels weak and the info on the back reads:
3V Lithium renana CR 2025
so the brand is renata.
is there a possibility that perhaps the original owner never replaced the battery?

When you start the car with the ikey inside watch the key symbol on the dash. If it blinks green for 30 seconds it means you need a new battery in the fob.
