Somebody mashed my mirror and ended up not only breaking the glass but chipping a piece of plastic off of my mirror housing. So now $150 later I have this unpainted replacement mirror unit. My guy wants to charge me around $70 bucks to paint it the special sparkly Infiniti pearl white and install it (although I can put it on myself). I was hoping to get a second opinion. Can anybody help me out?

Maybe price around other body shops in your area And compare prices.. Not much we can do from here. Every body shop charges different..

 

$70 does not sound out of the ordinary esp since you're painting it IP.

 

Right, I guess more of what I was wondering is if I should be charged a premium for my car's paint? Cause my guy was like "derp your paint is rare it'll cost more derp" or something like that. I was just hoping someone had some insight into that.

 

yup, IP is a 3 stage paint job and will typically cost more because of the pearlescent component.

 

Certain colors do cost more than others.

just remember that the mirrors on our cars are kind of a P.I.T.A. as the mirror glass does not come out without breaking I work in a bodyshop and have had to deal with a few mirrors

 

$70 bucks for paint doesn't seem too harsh. Just make sure they have a reputation for doing a good job.

 

So, how much is it going to cost? Did you talk to the body shops yet?
