I'm probably going to swap out to my coupe 19s w/ Michelin all season sports soon. But I was curious if this was a characteristic of the tire or maybe they were getting worn.

i'm thinking it's the tire, cause they didn't handle very well when I had them, even when Brand new. I'm going to wait it out a couple more weeks to swap to the Nismo's so that they can fix the massive potholes from this winter.

Continental ExtremeWinterContacts here and the car drives just fine in the wet. But I only have maybe 2k on mine. Still very new.

I'm running on Micheline Pilot Alpin PA3's. They're great in the snow, great in the rain, and have no problem doing 90+ mph on the highway. They cost a lot, but after the worst winter in memory (I live in New England), I've realized you get what you pay for.

I have Firestone Winterforces and they are VERY sketchy in the rain.

I've run 215/55/17s WS-50s on a set of '03 6 spokes for 3 seasons now and I can definitely tell they are about expired. These tires will probably be the last season for me. When they were brand new they were AMAZING in the snow/slush/wet, but were very squirrely on dry pavement. For such a soft tread I thought it was pretty normal.

But now 3 years later, with maybe 10-12K miles on them, they are just the opposite. Not as good in the snow/wet anymore, but on dry payment they are great. I've heard Blizzaks eventually wear down to an all season compound, which I can believe from my experience with them. They still have plenty of tread left, but still time for a new set.

Hmm good thoughts everyone.

I went ahead and put on my coupe 19s on michelin pilot a/s. Much better.

The tread on my blizzaks are probably 1/2 worn. I hope they still perform on the snow and hopefully I can get 1-2 more seasons out of them

Any chance you would have a tread depth gauge? I would be curious to know what they measure out at... You said you have 6k miles on them??? I am kinda stumped because I got 4 winters out of the WS50's on the front of my G35's and 2 winters out of the rear WS50's and 2 more winters out of the WS60 rears. They were all about shot when I traded the car in, and I traded it with the 17" snow tires on it. I was averaging about 10k miles a winter with those tires on the car.

The WS50's and WS60's by far are not a good handling tire... but I never seen any issue with wet road traction even when they were worn pretty good at the point I traded in.

Do you think the snow is over up your way??? Or you just planning to throw them back on if a storm hits?

My WS60s are not noticeably sketchy in the wet and this is their third winter. They may, however, be compounded differently than the 50s.

Try 35psi. If still squirrelly try 40psi. If still, bite the bullet and use all-season tires.

Im running Nokia Hokopolita snow tires and they are the best snow tire ive ever had and ive tried all the popular snows including blizzaks. Try those next and you wont be disappointed.

No tread depth guage but I can penny test them

I'm not too worried how they handle perse. 1st priority is what they do in the snow.

We got a very mild winter up here. It's almost mid-Feb. I'm pretty sure our snow season is over. But I can throw them back on pretty much on a moment's notice. Air tools are great that way

My coupe 19s are Michelin pilot a/s. Not really sure how they will work in the snow. The rears are 255. But I'm sure they might get me around in pinch

4th season with my ws-50's, and yes, they lose traction pretty easily on wet pavement. For most driving conditions though, they're still adequate. Still working well in the snow too, never spun out or got stuck. Will probably replace them with more performance-oriented snow tires next winter.
