about to buy an 05 g35x. advice?
about to buy an 05 g35x. advice?
I live near lots of snow, so I want an AWD.
I am looking at a Subaru Legacy or a g35x
Want to spend <$16k (ideally 14-15k)
I have a g35x in mind. 2005, with upgraded everything (except navigation).
keyless start, bose sound, etc..
It had 45k miles and costs exactly $16k.
It's mint condition. It actually looks new. Clean, no scratches or dents.
It's had 3 owners and no accidents.
Based on other g35x's i've seen on sale in my area, this seems like a pretty good deal. I haven't found any others in my price range (at least not with <50k miles)
As for subarus, they're cheaper, so there's lots in my price range.
My basic doubts are, is it going to cost a lot more to maintain than a Subaru?
I'm a little worried about high repair costs. Is the 05 model known as a reliable car?
I could get a 2008 Legacy with 25k miles for the same price. (obviously an inferior vehicle.) But, longterm, I suspect a newer subaru with less miles might be more reliable, and cheaper to maintain.
Opinions appreciated.
(p.s. current car is a '93 Altima 5spd that I've had for 10 years. It's been a workhorse with very few problems)
Anyway, I'm looking at possibly buying soon, so I just wanted advice.

I have an 05 x and an 04 Subaru. The Subaru is terrific, it goes through all seasons effortlessly with no muss, no fuss. Highway passing takes planning but it does have enough power to get the job done.
It can't be compared to the G. The G is just a pile of fun to drive. The big difference is not in cost to maintain. It is in the eagerness (or lack) as you head out on a routine task in the car.

*my opinion*
Between an 2008 legacy with 25k miles and a 2005 g35 with 45k miles, for the same price I'd get the legacy. I feel the subaru is a "little" cheaper to maintain and might had less "quirks"
Plus I'd prefer to buy a car that still has some vehicle warranty than not.
With that said, I looked at legacy, and bought the Infiniti. As said, was much more fun to drive than a subie.

I would get the G it is a funner car to drive and i have not had any problems with my 05X in the last 2 1/2 years and i have 100k miles on the car now and i cant complain. but it all comes down to what you like best. Drive both if you haven't already and make your decision.
