Hello! Advice on Used G35 purchase..

Hey guys/ladies. While I'm not exactly new to G35 driver or My350z.com, the last time i was on the forums was back in 2008 or so. I used to own a 03 350Z touring which gave way to my 335i. Now, I am in the market to buy a used G35 coupe for my wife. I found a beautiful 2004 gray one with only 43k miles at a dealership for under $12k. Its out of warranty but I've always loved this car. Its been a while but what were the issues with these cars? I remember my door motors on my Z being sh*t and a hub bearing issue. Also there were a few creaks that werent really bad, but thats it. What advice do you veteran G owners have before I go buy it?

05s and above have a potential oil consumption issue. Some have oil pooling in the spark plugs due to leaking valve cover gaskets and there is the axel click issue that you mentioned. Other than than that, the car is pretty solid. Transmission and engine are fairly bullet proof.

With 43k miles, most of the major issues may not be there yet. Is it auto or manual?

I usually suggest going with an 05/06 since it had a minor interior redesign, but its up to you.

That is wicked low but I'd say hold off for an 05-07, usually best to go with the latest year with all the changes made

I would only get an 05 and above. Nicer interior, IMO.

Actually, if I did it over again, I would get an '06/'07 for the projector headlights and taillights, and a sport for the Rays.

+1.

You should be able to find and 05/06 in the $12k range right now. The 06 gets a few tweaks and new bits (lights, front bumper, spoiler, etc).
