my lights stayed on today....

Not sure what the deal is....

I have auto on/off lights and they normally turn off about 1 minute after turn off the engine. I do what i normally do and walk inside the house, i guess my lights never turned off. I go out to the garage about 5 hours later and see my lights are on very faintly of course due to drainage. The parking lights were only on, headlights turned off. So i go and manual turn off my headlights. At the OFF position the lights are still ON!!!!

At that point i locked and unlocked my car via the remote and it functions. I went to pop the hood so i can get a charge setup and the little alarm went off, very faintly but the lights refused to turn off. So i throw on a jump pack on there and hit unlock/lock and everything works like normal again. Lights turned off and everything was decent.

I didn't start it yet, still charing the battery via jump pack. Was this some type of failsafe mode or twitch. Lights staying on with the switch turned off. I dont have anything aftermarket installed lately in the past 8 months. Nothing aftermarket on the car. New battery as of last year.

Hopefully this was just a one time thing where the auto lights forgot to turn itself off.

If five hours of parking lights drained your battery you had better go shopping for a new one FAST.

it wasn't just the parking light. maybe your not fimiliar with auto ON/OFF headlights.

parking lights alone are never on. Its either headlights with everything is on or everything is off. When i walked away from the car all lights were on. When i came back in and saw the car the HID were off and didn't respond to the light switch.

No matter what postition the light switch was only the parking light in the front and taillights in the rear were on. the HID and high beams didn't respond.

Either way the problem hasn't happened again. It was a good thing i was home and not somewhere else.

HIDs won't turn on with too low of current. That's why they turned off. They don't just dim all the way like halogen lamps. Kind of like florescent lamps.

What kind of aftermarket items were on the car before? Were they removed by you or a professional? Maybe you have a faulty stalk?

i have no items actually that can remote be linked to this.

LED dome lights and plate. OEM navi, I-key. stock radio. no wiring done other then hardwire my escort 8500 but that wasn't even plugged in.

Not to be cocky or anything but i KNOW i didn't screw up any of my installs. I leave it on AUTO 95% of the time and it was on AUTO for the whole month, still is but everything is working fine.
