drive belts!!!! and a Bose CD issue....

Ok, so my car has hit 127k and i'm pretty sure my belts haven't been done since I bought the car with 35k on it.. how much does it usually cost to get the belts changed? like whats too high or reasonable so I don't get screwed walking in somewhere???? and issue #2.. every morning on my way to work my cd player skips and acts like the cd is scratched when in fact it is not scratched or damaged... and my cd player or lens has been cleaned as recent as last month.. wtf?? so for the 2 random topics on one thread didn't wanna waste 2 separate ones...

I bought both of the belts online for about $40 shipped and used the how to video on Infinitihelp.com as a reference for installation. My Belts were pretty bad at 90k, I can only imagine what yours looks like

all you need is a socket set to do your belts and maybe a friend to just help guide from up top. No special tools required but damn.....Mine were 32K and one snapped. Didnt know the belt would last that long. Alot of people recommend gator belts.

My dealer quoted me $199 to change the belts. I found OEM Nissan/Infiniti belts on eBay for approximately $35 shipped and performed the work myself. Any mechanic should be able to change the belts for you at or below the $200 price point.

Good luck

Where do you live in MA? I can change your belts for you, however you will probably need new belt tensioners since you have not touched the belts in forever..

^It's unlikely he will need new tensioners.

OP, this is an easy DIY job.

As for you CD player issue? The CD changers in these cars are complete garbage. It's probably on it's way out. Hate to be the bearer of bad news.

Have you ever changed belts? The tension adjustment bolts were rusted on my car. The A/C Belt tensioner bolt was bending as a result of the rust. Same problem on my Maxima!!

Take off the extra pulley while you change the belts. Buy a 1" shorter belt..
