front Chassis Reinforcement

I am starting to look into dealing with the little bit of cowl shake/flex I have in the front of my 2005 G35 sedan 6MT.

I was comparing it to my Dad's E39 5 series, when driving the G around a bumpy corner I can feel the front flexing. my goals are to fix the flex and sharpen up the steering with out doing anything that would make the car too harsh. I am keeping the car mostly stock and will not be lowering it (BTDT, not building another track yet).

I was looking at:
GTSPEC aluminum front lower tie brace
GTS Aluminum Type-D front strut brace (do strut bars do much on these cars?)

I'm sure I am missing a lot. I do not care how it looks I am more interested in if works. Please let me know what you can recommend.

You'll see more of a noticeable difference (which won't be significant under normal driving conditions) with with the GT Spec STB vs the lower tie brace. I would get sway bars first though before a front STB, will be a noticeable improvement in handling.

^+1 I agree with him and sway bars will improve handling without sacrificing nice ride quality.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm confident adding a stiffer sway bar will sharpen up the steering and make the car react faster. But I would like to cure the flex I am feeling and I think stiffer sways will put more force on the sub frame/chassis exacerbating the flex.

I am now also looking at adding the GTSPEC 4 Point Mid Chassis Reinforcement Brace to start with as I am not sure if the flex is coming from the cowl or the front sub frame.

Thank you for the tips, I was trying to stay away from modding the suspension at this point but moderate aftermarket bars (Stillen?) should make the car crisper. On another note I am looking at getting lightweight wheels as the stock wheels look good IMO but are boat anchors. Unfortunately one project will have to be put on hold as this is getting expensive.

The GTSPEC 4 point chassis reinforcement doesn't fit the Sedan. But IIRC last year someone posted a photo of one installed on a Sedan, I'll see if I can find it.

I had read that it fit with stock exhaust but not with coupe mid pipe. I will have to call and find out. Please post that picture if you can find it.

Here is the photo:

Found it in this thread: https://g35driver.com/forums/media-s...ml#post5298167

Guy said that his mechanic "bolted it right up". I'm not convinced its installed properly. For years we have been told that it doesn't fit, people have attempted to test fit it and the holes just don't line up with the bolt points on a Sedan.

thanks for the info. i guess it's back to the drawing boards to figure something else out. or just bolt up the braces that fit and see if it helps.
