Jacking a lowered sedan

It snowed in the northeast today, so the snow tires had to go on. Last winter this was no problem, but since then I've installed '04 350Z springs. My craftsman low profile jack won't quite reach the jack points. Driving up on 2x4's was my only solution.

I would've driving up on the ramps that my roommate has for changing his oil, then jacked it up, but even those won't clear the front bumper now. Anyone have a better method?

The 2x's might be your only solution. I Use Rhino Ramps for my lowered miata. They have a much lower incline degree than standard ramps.

Re: Jacking a lowered sedan

I have '03 350Z suspension on my sedan and I can't jack it up directly either from the front. The way I jack it up is by first using a small 2 ton jack that barely clears the sideskierts and onto the pinchwelds. I jack it up quite a bit so that the 3 ton jack will fit under the front of the car and onto the jacking point that is in the middle between the front two wheels. Then I jack the rest of the way up using the 3 ton jack. Works like a charm.

Got a curb and sidewalk nearby? You might be able to drive one side of your G onto the sidewalk to give you more clearance.

If you can't handle the speed, get out of the fast lane.

Hey andyranck,

I think using the 2x4's (gains you about 1.5") is your best option. I've been doing this ever since I got my G except I use pieces of 2x10's instead (less stress on the tires). They are much cheaper than buying any lower profile jack and only takes seconds to toss in front of the tires and drive up onto.
