2003 G35 Sedan with 150,000 miles...
just fyi, i'm at 185k miles - had her since December of 2002.
i'll let you know once I clear 200k
my biggest repair? radiator leak.
All my other repairs were suspension bits and pieces I attribute to me riding so low on Brooklyn roads *cough canyon sized holes cough*

Only because you don't know it's history. 150K miles is a lot of time for stuff to be neglected. You don't know if the fluids or all original, or not or what other parts have been done.
If you find out, it could sway me into saying yes, but based on just knowing the mileage, i would say no because a lot of the general public do not maintain their cars well and just fix something when it breaks.

find out the service records..
see how many time its been service and where
if you can get a carfax and another car check thing i cant remeber
check if its been in accident
check if its been repainted
check if it had any major repair .. such as engine / transmission
check under for frame damage ..
check for werid and strange noise when driving
after all has been cleared
do what i said .
i say give him 6k save the 500$ to pay for things u may need to do to the car
such as
- oil change
- transmission fluid
- differential
- brakes / rotors
- bushings
- battery
- wheel bearings
and your all good.. these cars are strong at 150k just started to break in the car. =D

I have a CarFax question. I think those reports show you service done to the car, but is that only dealer service? For instance, I took my car to the dealer to have stuff done early in its life (120k now) but I started doing almost everything myself a long time ago. I keep receipts for stuff, but I am curious if I took it to an independent shop if that service work would show up on a CarFax.
And consider that CarFax is not 100% accurate.
HELL have it checked and BUY IT!! price is good...
i just bought my 06 g in Feb with 99K made it to over 100K with my trip to MIA this weekend, it ran like a dream. I replaced the wheel bearings so far and may need a few minor front suspension bits but thats it.
I will keep the maintainance up as good as i do my 04 FX, change the rotors and pads, rear hatch lock, spark plugs, and thats it...
like another poster said, most infiniti owners keep the maintainence up on these cars, if there are no wrecks it is a solid buy.
112K on tha FX 100K on tha G, both run like the 1st day i bought them. May purchase a 06-07 M when this G is paid for next yr, and if i can find a QX45 high milage for cheap, i will get that too...

look for younger year,,, i bought my 05 with 80K for 10.8 before tax... +500 for all fluids and plugs... i would not do 03-04,,,, i like updated interior in 05/06,,,,,, will probably sell in 2 years for 07/08 year model
Auto or manual? Most everything can be checked except for the auto tranny. One can just check if it shifts good and doesn't slip. Then inspect the fluid condition (if it wasn't just replaced). Really the only x factor is the tranny. The motor can be checked via a compression check, visual etc.... Same with the suspension and body

It's an auto.
I'm going to contact him and see if he can provide proof of maintenance. If he does have them, then I'll ask him if he can have the car checked by an Infiniti mechanic and we'll see from there.

there is no doubt that an 05 /w 80k would be nicer, but the newer car costs almost double... that is a different ballpark all together

Exactly.
^ Good, I love those guys. They do all my mod installs & maintenance.
Just did a quick search for G35 sedans under $9k on CL and there's a few 2004's out there with ~100k miles. There's a clean 1-owner 2003 OB sedan for $8k-ish I'm sure you negotiate on. Too bad none of them have the Nismo kit, tho.
