Swapping seat rails on a 2006 X?
Hi everyone,
My driver's seat rail has been loose since I got the car with 36K. It was occasionally moving when I came to a quick stop or punched the gas.
I brought the car to my dealer and had them check it out and gave them the TSB for the seat rail lifter link. They claim the TSB won't fix it and it will be $988 for a new seat rail. I lived with it for a while but now at 60K I can feel it shift every time the car shifts, it's that bad. The seat itself is solid, it's definitely the rail.
Since the dealer quote is so rediculous, I am going to buy the part from Nissan and do it myself, I think. What all is involved?
I assume the new seat rail (like $600 from Nissan) is not going to come with any of the adjuster motors and all of mine will have to be swapped over? Anything else I should be aware of or cautious of?
I'd go with a used seat rail but don't trust junkyard units here if mine was loose so early in its life. I must replace with new in this case.

I don't know about the specific repair, but you should call and get a quote from a local Nissan dealer - see what they charge. I called Infiniti to get some work done recently, and they quoted me $1500. Nissan quoted me $500 for the same work (plus a few extras). Same parts, same labor.
It's worth looking into.

But after pulling the entire interior on my wife's Sequoia last weekend and replacing the complete sunroof assembly, I'm sure this will be cake in comparison. I'm fairly competent, I just wanted to know what is involved.
