Vapor Canister valve

2005 G35x

I put this in a different thread yesterday, but it is some sub forum that doesn't get a lot of attention and time is of the essence (in my case).
I am getting a P0455 error code and I'm fairly certain it isn't my gas cap. I don't smell gas ever and my engine isnt knocking. I'm thinking about replacing the EVAP vent control valve, but would like to spend as little $$$ as possible. Will this work?

Amazon Amazon

FYI I have retightened and reset the code 4 times and it comes back 45 minutes later like clockwork. I have also purchased a new gas cap (though I'm starting to think stant makes crap).

Nissan actually has a redesigned one that is supposed to work better. The new part number is 14935-JF00B. I got an after market one last year and the stupid code is coming back now.

Angry P0455 code P0477 code

Picked mine up at a NIssan dealer 150 + 10minute installation. you can see the difference on the solenoid, its bigger and on the out side of the valve, unlike the old one that incorporated everything inside..... this ones under the right rear wheel, somebody on the forum has a good diy on it.

a week later I got a P0477 code evap cannister purge control solenoid valve
this one was a bit pricey as well 250.00, easy installation at rear of motor, right under the plastic cover another 10 minute job went to auto zone and cleared the codes no problems

both parts were dealer only......

in most cases ive seen this code. its almost always ONE of the valves assuming the gas cap is working.

These are open or close solenoids, 2 pin connectors, if you apply 12v to them you should hear the solenoid click ONCE. If it doesn't click or clicks repeatedly then you found your problem. That is the CHEAP way to do it, because on some cars there are 3-4 different valves. One coming into the engine from the tank, one from the engine to the tank and one at the canister itself.

I never did a nissan valve yet, only VW and toyotas.

just because you dont have the code doesn't mean you fixed it.

Your i/m readiness has to be ready to fully say your code isn't there.

evap emission testing on your car is very random. Pending on your drive cycle, sometimes it triggers the test right away and sometimes it takes months. When it does test it and if it does pass it will say your I/M is ready. So you have to wait for it to do the test. This isn't like other failing sensors because its not always monitored. This is one of the LEAST important emission systems testings but at times can be the most annoying to get to pass, 2nd to last would be EGR related faults.
