Lights on Dash Fixed?
Lights on Dash Fixed?
For a while now my tire pressure warning light has been flashing and about a month later my passenger airbag light joined in on the fun. Quick forum search led me to conclude that the TPMS might be messed up (not that I need it replaced- I check my pressure regularly) and that the air bag is a more serious thing. So today I went to the dealership (Infiniti Willowdale).
They told me that both front tire sensors are faulty, and that the reason for the air bag light is the steering spiral cable. [Thankfully] they didn't have the cable in stock and couldn't replace it. I also decided to put my summer tires on since I was there (for the record I think the alignment was done horribly though I need to drive the car a bit more to be certain).
Anyways, I get my car back and all the lights have disappeared. No air bag warning, no tire pressure warning lights.
So could this be just because they fiddled around with the electronics? I'd prefer not to spend $326 replacing this steering spiral cable, though I'd probably see if my local shop could do it now that I know what the problem is if in fact the light went away but the air bag doesn't work. I know my mom's former Pontiac Grand Prix was having many issues until it was simply looked at by a mechanic, just wondering if others have had similar problems that were solved by a quick inspection?
As well, should I assume everything is fixed now that I have no warning lights?

It seems that they reset the lights to see if they pop up again.
I wouldn't worry about this until the lights come back on.
If they do then you might need to get them fixed as the dealer has stated.
I know that the spiral cable should be done by the dealership or good mechanic. Dunno about the price but the recent tsunami in japan has been known to raise the prices of spare parts.
The TPMS is less of an issue but after you change them you will need to get them relearned by the dealership.
