I'm reminded of how much I like my car everytime I take it in to get work done at the dealership and they give me a loaner. Don't get me wrong, I love driving the new G37's and will probably end up getting one someday...but there's just something about the first gen styling that I love.

S854: I am taking the 06 to an Infiniti dealer a half hour from the Subaru dealership where I'm buying from. They're charging me $180 to do the inspection. Ouch! Their inspection includes a code check so they'll see if any error codes were reset that could hide components that are failing. So from that perspective I feel it's worth it. They're the closest Infiniti to Subaru and I live 2 hours away from Subaru so I can't keep running back and forth. I did check out a couple mobile inspection places and they charge $149 which also includes the computer code checks. So I figure the extra $30 to have Infiniti look it over is probably a good investment. What is hard is these 06's are getting harder to find at 5 years old. Many are high mileage or beat-a-boxes or colors I hate like red or white. I wanted silver, gray or black on black X with under 60K miles and that is a very specific model to find in New England.

Very good idea. I didn't have this option when I bought mine (closest dealer was an 1hr+ away).

I would get an autocheck/carfax, too.

Not sure what's included in the Infiniti PPI, but I would specifically ask them to check fluid condition, service history - if any, and all the bushings.

Indeed! When I finally found mine back in February, I had been looking every day on Autotrader, cars.com, and Craigslist for almost a solid month. I looked at a few before I test-drove mine and made an offer. I really tried to find a lower-mileage car, but this one had 62K when I bought it. Other than that, it was exactly what I wanted - '06x, with the Premium package, black interior and aluminum trim, and Diamond Graphite exterior. Good luck with the inspection!

Had Infiniti do a pre purchase inspection, found some bushings that need replacing as well as brakes soon (not now but soon I think). I had to get them to take another $800 off the car and make sure they fix the driver door which when you shut it has a rattle. Dealer said it COULD be the regulator bolts, not sure though. It doesn't rattle when driving the car, just when you shut it. If this is going to turn out to be a money pit I will back out of the deal Sunday when I check it out one last time.
The car looks great, but IMO, their starting price is way out of line - I hope you're not offering near that number. My car is optioned exactly the same as the one you're looking at and only had 10K more miles when I bought it 3 months ago, and I paid almost $3K less than their internet price. Are they giving you an even swap for your '07? If anything, they should owe you some $$ since they will get more for the '07 when they resell it.

Don't think I could go back to a first gen after owning my 2nd gen..... oh sure I could. Always have a soft spot for a first gen.

Pulled service history on 06. Seems this guy did not take good care of the car. I had Infiniti pull the maintenance history. Car had a valve cover gasket leak earlier this year (was fixed) and concern about car slamming into 3rd gear but not sure what it is, ALL the fluids were dark and discolored in report, customer did not flush any except radiator fluid. Sounds to me this guy traded the car instead of fixing everything. I backed out of the deal. Not touching it. As much as I want that 06 I do NOT want to be stuck with a money pit when I am driving a certified, mint 07 so I'll take my time and look some more. Thanks everyone for your help. I prob saved myself a lot of headache
