Antenae upgrade ?

Is there any way to upgrade the Antenae ?
I get terrible reception compared to any of my previous cars.

Re: Antenae upgrade ?

I've never heard anyone complain about the radio reception on the G. New one on me. Mine is fine.

My radio reception used to be pretty good until I used my FM Modulator for my Alpine MP3 changer, after that, the reception is horrible!

Re: Antenae upgrade ?

My reception is the worst I've ever had, in any car. Especially AM, which I use for sports talk radio and Raiders/Warriors games. My Am radio only gets about 10 channels at any given time in my "G", while my '86 Mazda B2000 pickup gets over 30 stations clearly, when parked side by side, with the stock radio and antenna - what gives ??

rjp6:

Regarding your tag line "You can't win if you don't play the game" - we here in Oakland have found that you also can't win if the referees call the "tuck rule" for the one and only time in the history of the NFL !! That was, and is, the biggest bullshit call EVER. We're used to it, though, what with "Immaculate" receptions, and all.

No matter now, though - New England has kicked *** fair and square ever since our "ripoff"

Dbarnes,

Ha, that was great. The Raiders went straight downhill after that. After suffering 86 years of no World Series wins for
the Red Sox and the Patriots never winning a Superbowl
we needed a little (legal procedure) getting things done.

Ok, that tuck rule call was a while ago. You need to get over it and move on. Maybe talk about the easy pass that was dropped toward the end of the game on sunday that would have beat the chargers!!!!

About the Antenae, some people have complained that if they tinted their back window with a metallic tint that their reception became worse. I have not found this to be true. I have metallic tint and have no complaints about FM. AM reception was slightly decreased when I had my tint installed. I still get the AM stations that I had before, but with a slight more static only when driving under powerlines. But you got to remember, it is AM.

Re: Antenae upgrade ?

Yeah, that would only make sense if the tint was on the OUTSIDE of the window, blocking reception somehow.

Pearl harbor was a while ago, too - but we ain't forgettin' that one, either, are we ?? Just kidding - we've certainly had our chances since then, and blew 'em (like that pass on Sunday).

Regarding the reception, I have had my rear window tinted, but the reception was just as bad for the two months I had the car prior to the tinting. I can somewhat understand the poor AM reception, since AM is not real popular and the radio designing engineers probably place little importance on it, but the FM reception sucks, too !!

Anybody here used any kind of a "booster" or anything, that works ??

Re: Antenae upgrade ?

ChicagoX, I'm assuming that any radio signals being picked up are coming from outside the car. Since the antenna is part of the rear window kind of like the defroster, The only way metallic tint would reasonably block a signal betwen the antenna and the radio signal would be if the tint was on the outside of the window. I'm no rocket scientist but it sure seems to make sense to me.

my am reception was so bad I went with SAT RADIO

reception was so bad I went with Sat Radio. I love it. And the Stock is fun to play with to. NFL games and great reception. I would be unhappy without it.
Just an option.

could be your tint... i was told by california tint in el monte that some titanium tints are kinda metallic or something so they will mess up ur radios reception.
i got my car tinted with charcoal tint or something that was guaranteed to not fade and it didnt hinder the radio @ all

I said in another post that I had the car for 3 months before I had the tint installed - but thanks for the response.
