Quote: What I plan on doing is putting the OEM cats on in the morning and drive it around the shop. If it does have a lot of droning in the cabin still I'm going to have the stock piece go back in and do more research on Stillen & HKS and any other good option out there. I don't really want to have to put it back on but I can't take the in cabin noise. I agree with the thread you sent me it has to be something with the sedans being longer that we end up with so much droning.
The droning is mostly due to the muffler (minus tips) being 14"...if I'm wrong just let me know. Everything else is ALMOST identical to the coupe. The coupe midpipe just has less acute bends and the coupe muffler is obviously larger and different design. So the muffler in combination with the sedan's single exit 63mm/64mm midpipe to exhaust is mostly the causing factor for the drone.

Read A LOT of reviews before choosing your muffler. I believe most users disliked the HKS axleback in combination with HFC's and coupe midpipe. If you don't plan on HFC's then you should be fine. A handful of people also liked the sound + gains of the Stillen gen1/2 but didn't like the drone.

I will eventually "invest" in Motordyne ART pipes, Motordyne XYZ pipe + HFC, and then do a custom y-back exhaust.

Wouldn't you have a CEL if you were running gutted cats?

the so called "technician" at my infiniti dealership said that the coupe midpipe would not fit due to the hangars being in different locations and it being shorter. I told him he was wrong and that I still wanted to buy it he told me it would be a couple hundred dollars(days before I was quoted by his boss 250 for the entire coupe exhaust which I did not need) so I told him I would get back to him later and walked out. Before I do that I want an HR Y-pipe though

No, I never have had a check engine light. I also passed NC inspection this year. The owner put a 05 ECU so it's probably getting around it some how.

Will the Coupe test pipe & resonator tone down the noise in the car? And will it be the sound I want?

Ok... oem cats, oem y-pipe, coupe mid-pipe and oem rear section is what I have.
Sounds better than stock, deeper, slightly louder but still a very very mellow sound.

To improve on that sound, an HR-Y pipe and HKS rear section and it sounds really good IMO.

Are you talking about how there's no check engine light or that there is a 05 ecu rplacing the 03?

Quote: I have heard some HKS exhuast but not to many. Is there any site with a good sound clip with it on a G? I'm looking into lookig into Stillen generation 2 cat-back exhaust system, but HKS would be a good one to look into.

Awesome! That's exactly what I'm looking for. I'll have to tell them to put a Coupes mid-pipe in. I go in the morning to the shop.

Are you absolutely sure your cats are gutted?

I would think if they were, that CEL would be lit up brighter than Vancouver after a Canucks loss.

(sorry, I had to go there ).
