Arrow Tornado in my intake piping?!?!

So I recently acquired my '05 Sedan and I just received my Z tube today.. So here I am removing the stock one and as I remove it I see a metal claw looking thing in my intake?! So I thought to myself no way that Infiniti put this thing in there to create MaD tYte JDM hp but I figured I'll ask the forum and amuse everyone..

Lol, what happened to the last tooth? I hope it didnt break off and go straight through your intake :S, that could be costly

Edit: oooh ok I see how that works, never mind about that tooth. But thats not a tornado, thats something else

Haha it feels much better on the throttle surprisingly. No doubt that ridiculous thing put a toll on the airflow. The bay looks a tad cleaner with the Z tube as well

There is no missing tooth. Its split to fit in the tube tight.

Not surprising. It's sad that people fall victim to gimmicks like this.
