Not that I like snow, but we finally got a fair amount in central Wisconsin and I was able to see how the AWD works on my G35x. Wow! Granted, the snow wasn't all that deep, but the roads were absolutely the slickest they've been since last winter, and the G got me through just fine. I've never felt so comfortable driving in snow and ice as I did when I was driving my AWD G35. There is virtually no sliding or fishtailing at all. I'd press the accelerator and I'd go exactly where I wanted without any tire spin but with a lot of power to the road. Having always had good luck with front wheel drive cars in the winter, I was a little concerned the AWD would only be helpful at slow speeds. But the AWD kicked in at all speeds and helped tremendously. From now on it's nothing but AWD cars for me!

Glad that your loving your X. My wife drives a Subaru Outback. Honestly the X handles the snow much better and is a lot more fun too.

Considering the X costs $2000 more, and a good set of 16" snow tires on steel painted rims costs $1000 shipped, you can still get a 6MT and have fun in the snow. Just my 2cents.

I got a 2005 AWD Sedan loaner tonight. It is raining, and I took her around and about and tried to make her slide out, but the AWD plus the VDC just kicked in and kept her grounded real solid, but not in that overbearing, power shutdown mode that I get when I dog my '03 on a rainy day. It also makes her feel exceptionally quick because almost all the power is getting to the pavement with very little wheelspin. It corners VERY nicely too. So far I am quite impressed with the handling and power, and the driver's seat is much more comfortable as well. I am still not digging the exterior changes for '05 though. At all.

It doesn't sound as good as my '03 sedan, either. But the handling is definitely a blast.

Were you driving the G35X with Winter tires or the standard all-season tires?
What make & model?

Believe it or not, I am driving on the factory Goodyear all-season tires. At some point I want to buy a set of Michelin Pilot all-seasons.

fotodad- We just picked up our new 05 G35X today, and you are right on about the handling in the wet and snow. I have not driven mine with stock rims and tires yet. I had the dealer install BSA alloys (16" x 7") with Blizzak ws-50 snow tires on the car before I picked it up and it is awesome for day one. Just love the car.

I'm glad to hear that the G35x handles well in the snow. I convinced my fiance to spring for the AWD when she was buying a new G35, knowing that we'd be using for snowboarding season.

I take back what I said about the 05 seats being better. I just hadn't spent enough time in it yet. I was in the car for an hour yeaterday and the same old pain in the hip and thigh area and numbness in the lower rt. leg and foot was all to evident. I do enjoy the AWD factor though. If I lived in the mountains I would give it serious consideration.

I have the 2004 X with 17" Blizzak WS-50's up here in Vermont. So far so good. The car feels rock solid-we've had a lot of snow and ice in the last week. No matter how hard I push it, the back end stays put.

Don't you just LOVE the X.
