get it, and buy the infiniti extended warranty, and then report oil consumption and you got yourself a new engine

^This. I wouldn't touch that car with a 10-foot pole.

When I first bought my car, before signing anything I checked the oil, but couldn't really tell what was going on due to the fact I didn't know about the retarded design of the VQ dipstick and the fact you have to wait about 30+ mins after you shut the car off before you can get an accurate read

Anyway, I changed the oil a few days later and only got about 2.5 QT out, which worried me a bit. However, I did change it on an incline (found out later the G don't like that)
But the car did fine, and I checked it regularly, noting that it did use oil at a higher rate than I was used to from previous cars.
However, I switched to 10-40 and a better oil and it's rate of consumption went down.

That was all at around 100K and I'm over 130k now with no problems.

One thing to note though, I did have a valve cover off not long ago and there was no sign of sludge. Cams looked practically brand new. So yeah... the sludge thing would concern me too.

How much are they asking for it?
What they can sell it for is 11k

That's too high, unless it has low mileage... but then again, that's kinda negated by the whole sludge issue.

It said it had 95,600 miles on the add, but found out it actually had 99,620 after looking at the service records. So by no means was this low mileage

Granted, it was an 04 6MT with Nav.

Ashley, have you shopped G35s lately?? The prices have skyrocketed.

what would you have thought it would have been worth? Prices did sky-rocket, sadly it might be smarter to wait until winter or something at this point.

I wasn't aware the prices had gone up. Still, 11 Gs is to much to pay for a car that may end up being trouble

Oh definitely too much for that car considering the circumstances now. I have moved on from that car and am continuing my search.

I was just curious as to what you thought it would be worth if it didn't have the oil/ sludge issue.

The prices of these cars seemed to be cramming right into each other. It seems you can find an 03/04 with 100k on it for 10-12 or an 05/06 with 70-90k for 12-14, 50-70k for 14-16 and then you jump right into 07+ with 100k starting at as low as 17's
