2004 G35 Sedan Radio HELP
2004 G35 Sedan Radio HELP
I have a 2004 G35 Sedan - G for Generic.
It has the base Radio which is dieing a slow death.
Can I plug and play a Bose into the dash?
The main feature I want to keep is the cassete deck.
My XM receiver from my Titan works great with the tape deck.
I am shopping for a replacement OEM radio and Bose is all I seem to find.
I know I am lacking a few speakers, but other than that?
Is there an external Amp in the cars with Bose?
Any External hardware?
What about a unit with Nav?
Thanks in advance for the help.
Anyone have a working unit which you might want to part with?

No I do not believe the Bose is a plug-in-play install. I am sure the connections are different, the speakers are different, and they have an external amp (mounted under the rear deck).
I dont know about the Navi.
But if you do decide to replace the speakers and go with the Bose head unit I have a Bose amp ill sell you.
Try searching the Audio forums to find more info on the Bose decks.

I would just replace everything aftermarket, I have the Bose in mine and I am slowly phasing it out! I think it sounds horrible. My 97 F-250 sounded better than that thing! The high end is basically non-existant with a Bose system. I replaced my fronts with Infinity Kappa 60.9cs and it was a direct fit. I highly suggest taking the time and spending the money to just go aftermarket!
I am not a fan of Bose by any means.
The Bose in my 350 Roadster sucks. However, the RF in my Titan kicks butt.
I just bought the car and I travel a lot, usually over 30K miles per year.
I like having the controls on the wheel.
My last cars all had integrated phone...
I went back to my old theory, "Never buy a car which cost more than 12K."
THere are some nice 10K cars available, since everyone wants new and they like using the credit line to get it.
I will take their old car and drive it 100K miles then get another one.
At .55 cents per mile, my cars pay for themselve quickly.
Anyways!
Thanks for the help.
I ended up pulling the head unit this morning a cleaning it then scrubbing the leads on the ribbon cables.
The entire unit is now working perfect!
The Cassette was my main goal for XM and connecting my DroidX.
Now the Cassette, CD and Radio all work.
I am sure the radio and brakes were the reason the last owner traded it.
I replaced the brake pads and had the rotors turned, then pulled a quart of new brake fluid through the system.
Now I have to get the windows tinted.
