New Wheels

thinking about getting some new tires and rims. My current tread is 5/32, so I don't have too much time to decide.

searching for tire and rim threads has become a bit cumbersome with so many posts, so just curious as to any recommendations.

I would like to stay within a budget of about $600 - but I'm feeling that I'll exceed that with the cost of new rims.

I think I have the stock rims, and they're just fine, nothing exciting, and don't NEED to be replaced:

$600?!? You can't even get a set of decent tires for that unless they're used! You want wheels too?!?

For $600, your only option really is a set of OEM take-offs from a newer G35/G37. And even that is gonna be a little less than what you really need.

$600 would put a decent set of rubber on your current wheels, along with alignment and mount and balance and all that jazz.

I meant $600 for the rims. most places offer buy 3, get 1 free - but of course alignment and install would offset that....

EDIT

600 for rims is still not a lot, unless you plan on downgrading to 16" or something.

Buy 4 tires online at the cheapest rate shipped you can find. Most places are $25 or so per tire mounted & balanced.

If that is the case, just get tires.

Where in MD? There's a couple of places I deal with that I'm sure could help you out.

If you don't mind a little drive, check out Radial Tire in Silver Spring. best prices/service. Thru also stock some used tires that are virtually new. I picked up a set of 225/18 & 235/18 ice bear snow tires from them for $300 mounted & balanced.

thanks, but I'd prefer to go with new tires - never even considered getting used tires...

What tires to get depends on what do you need? A good set of all-seasons? Summer only tires?

If you are lookin for all-seaons, i recommend the continental extremecontact DWS. If you want summer-performance tires...well you'll have to see what others say.
