Trusting FSM torque value for ATF drain plug

Just drained/filled my ATF this morning and torqued the drain plug to the spec'd 25 ft-lb. Just doesn't seem tight enough, does not even seem to fully collapse the crush washer to my satisfaction. Sure looked like it was torqued on a lot more than 25 before, as the old crush washer was completely flat. If I look at the drain plug from the side, I can see copper and I definitely could not before with the way it was torqued on there.

I know it has to be ok - it's just a bit unnerving

Dealer last serviced the ATF, and that was quite awhile ago - did a full flush and fill at that time.

You sure your torque wrench is working properly? When I last did mine, I torqued it down to 25 ft. lbs also and it was fine. Definitely collapsed the whole washer.

Hmm a possibility. My in-lb wrench does not go up high enough to do a double-check. Need to borrow one from a friend - definitely better safe than sorry on this one. Thanks for the suggestion. 25 is near the low end for my torque wrench so I know I am losing some accuracy there.

Edit: Meh, this was just paranoia on my part. Took another look at it, and it's fine. I could barely budge the drain plug not using my torque wrench. I am still gonna check my torque wrench against another one just because it's a good thing to do, but I'm good I think.

I've just done it by hand. Small little 6" box wrench doesn't put a whole lot of torque on it. 3 times and no issue.

Funny thing is, that's what I do for the oil drain plug and it's the same crush washer and think even the same torque spec. That's why I ultimately just tried it w/o a torque wrench to convince myself it really was ok. Maybe it was just the thinness of the ATF drain plug head that threw me.
