Brakepads
Many factors go into how fast pads wear. Do you drive like you stole it and break hard/late, what type of pads are you using. we need a little more info before we can give you an good accurate answer.
Thanx.
Do you know if they are stock brake pads? Assuming your car has more than 20k miles on it. If the place said they changed the brakes before you bought it, they lied. Ive had Hawk HPS pads on my 06 sedan for almost 20k and on they are almost ready to be replaced. I am a spirited driver and have fun when/where i can.

That's really fast wear, they should not be toast after 20k.
Are you saying they're worn down to the shims or they're noisy? Noisy brakes aren't really a sign of worn out brakes.

you sure they didn't swap clusters and lied to you on that. Or a damaged car that finally got around to be fixed up. A lot of body shops here buy up rear end crashes on new 2011-12 cars, put them in the back lot and when parts get cheap or they have time, they fix and sell. Thats how one shop has 5 year old cars with 10-30k on them, sell them for slightly cheaper then everyone else.
But yea, your brakes are all pending on driver. What tells you that you need brakes is another question.

Pre-05 Gs had some brake (not 'break' for the love of pie) issues, but I haven't heard of any similar issues on the 05 forward.
If the person who owned your car previously beat on the car and/or tracked it frequently or just plain didn't know how to f'n drive (all possibilities) it's definitely possible to eat the brakes in 20K.
I have an 05 with 33K and the brakes have about 60% left on them (front)...
Did you inspect the brakes or have them done? if so, where did you have them done? How do you know they're shot?

I have no idea if it was messed with. Imported to iceland from usa 2007 with 1k miles. Now @ 20k and worn pads makes me go hmmmm..
I can see ca. 2mm left. Could it be explainad with the car standing for around 2 years for sale, disks got rouch and rusty accelarating padwear??
reason it did not sell, infiniti is not an selling item here in iceland, i think we have 5 cars in the country.
Thanks for your replys.

Like I said - my car is a 2005. It has 33K. Brakes are at 60% remaining. The car gets driven a LOT of short distances because of where I've lived. I currently live on an Island.. Everything is within spitting distance and my daily commute to work is 7 miles round trip.
It may be a factor, but I don't see how letting a car sit would reduce brake life.
Maybe the odo was tampered with as someone suggested. Dunno man.
